Art Napoleon goes north to Treaty 8 country to learn about the Dane-Zaa First Nation. He begins his journey at Garry Oker’s Symbols Lodge, visits the Doig River community and heads to buffalo country at Pink Mountain.

Art Napoleon returns home to the Moberly Lake First Nation. He visits several community members and enjoys a feast at the Moberly Lake Lodge where everyone enjoys an evening of food, dancing and games. He discovers that the moose hunt is still an important part of life among the Northern BC Cree Nation.

Art Napoleon explores the songwriting techniques of Mohawk singer Kinnie Starr and Métis singer Andrea Menard. He travels to the Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards ceremony in Toronto, and takes part in a youth music workshop in Victoria.

Arts Reporter Michael Glendale travels to Vancouver and Toronto to learn about Canada’s oldest Aboriginal theatre company – Native Earth Performing Arts. The company is celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2008. This episode features a retrospective and an overview of their current programming.

Art Napoleon visits the Nuu-chah-nulth community of Ucluelet, where he learns about the community’s Aboriginal heritage projects and partnerships. Art visits the community language centre, the Du Quah Gallery, the Wickaninnish Interpretive Centre and the Nuu-chah-nulth Trail.
#608 TSIMSHIAN TREASURES: Dundas Collection
Host Barbara Hager explores the issues of repatriation and cultural patrimony involving materials traded, sold or stolen from First Nations of BC in the 19th century. This episode explores the fate of the Dundas collection, an extraordinary group of masks, rattles and other objects that were removed from the Tsimshian community of Metlakatla in the mid-1800s by a preacher. His family sold the collection at auction in 2006 at Sotheby’s New York. A prominent Canadian family purchased several of the main objects, and an exhibit was held in BC in spring 2007 at the Royal BC Museum and the Museum of Northern BC.
#609 COMEDY: Lorne Cardinal, Sketch Comedy Rehearsal
Art Napoleon interviews Cree actor Lorne Cardinal about his life in theatre, television and movies, including the hit CBC series “Corner Gas.” Lorne heads over to the Metro Theatre to offer comedy directing tips to the Aboriginal comedy troupe Shirts and Skins, which includes Janet Rogers, Suzanne Bate, Dano Underwood, Michael Delamont and Art Napoleon. The troupe rehearses for their live show the following night.
#610 COMEDY: An Evening of Aboriginal Music and Humour
Art Napoleon heads an exceptional cast of actors and comedians as they share their humour at a special live performance called “The New Canoe Presents: An Evening of Aboriginal Humour and Music.” The event was taped before a sold-out audience at the Metro Studio Theatre in Victoria.

Art Napoleon explores Nuu chah nulth territory in Tofino. He learns about creating economic opportunities within the arts, cultural and eco-tourism industry. Art visits the stunning House of Himwitsa Gallery and Lodge, interviews the Tla-o-qui-aht First Nation'S Economic Development officer and visits with master canoe carver Joe Martin.

Art Napoleon explores Nuu chah nulth Territory in Tofino – he visits the Tla-O-Qui-Aht First Nations owned Best Western Tin Wis Resort, and takes a walking tour of Meares Island with Gisele Martin, owner of Tlaook Cultural Adventures. Art tries out surfing in the Pacific Ocean.
